Who Do You Include in Your Community?

According to the dictionary, the word ‘community’ includes “All the people living in a particular area or place.” This may have been the definition before the birth of the Internet and various social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Communities have expanded quite a bit in our modern world. They can include our 1200+ friends on Facebook, 300 followers on Twitter, or even those who re-pin us on Pinterest. This Earth is a huge place, yet the distance between our different communities has never seemed smaller. They now include strangers that seem to have the same interest as you on the Internet, maybe even someone you met once at a social gathering who happens to friend you on Facebook, and even those who happen upon your projects on FunderHut and donate to help you reach YOUR goal.

Our communities are ever growing. This is why FunderHut promotes this motto of “Finding Unity By Funding Community.” It’s because we understand the importance of connecting with our family, our friends, and even strangers to change our communities. These people who we see as our “community” define who we are, so as FunderHut says, “Why not make it better?” The definition of Community has evolved over the years, but the values that come with it remain unchanged.
