SBF: Solving a Problem—The Story of a Pop-Up Neighborhood

Old Oakland Pop Up Hood

Small Business Fridays: Featuring small businesses that deserve the recognition.

This week’s featured small business can be our Community Story of the Week, Nonprofit Monday, and Small Business Friday all at once! We personally love this story about how Old Oakland has finally reached the level of expectations that locals have been waiting for. With many small, independently-owned retail spaces opening around the area, many locals are taking pride in their neighborhood. This POPUPHOOD concept is a great driver of success to neighborhoods that have seen an economic slowdown. Check out this video to see what we mean:

FunderHut’s mission is to be able to help ambitious individuals, such as the team POPUPHOOD in neighborhoods around the country. We believe that a strong and thriving neighborhood should be built and born through the community with the cooperation of its inhabitants. Jobs should be offered to the individuals that live, eat, sleep, and spend their time & money in that neighborhood. We would love to see more projects like this on FunderHut! If you have an idea, or would like to start one, start a project here.

Do you know of any neighborhoods that have either seen revitalization, are beginning to see revitalization, or will eventually see it? Let us know down below and we will see what we can do to help!

This film was made by Eva Kolenko.
